Well, welcome to Gobblers Run. This is my very first post so I thought I would just give a bit of a general run down as to what Gobblers Run is. Gobblers Run is the name of my property. I named it Gobblers Run because if you've ever seen a gobbler (male turkey) run then you will know it is one of the funniest things ever! My current gobbler is called Troy and watching him run is only funny for the on-looker! I'm to busy fleeing to turn around.

As well as my 4 turkeys I have 21 chooks and 5 roosters. They all free-range together and they couldn't be happier!

The house on "Gobbler's Run" had been vacant for 5 years. When I say 'vacant' I mean no people. It had in fact been occupied by a horse, a possum, several rats and a number of large brown snakes, none of which I really wanted to share my new house with! So I evicted the tenants and with the help of my loving boyfriend Jamie ( who is only here on the week-ends) set about renovating to a livable standard. It has taken 3 years to get here and I still have an outside toilet and no hot water in the kitchen! I do however own my own home and I love that feeling!

Here on "Gobbler's Run" I am striving to be as self sufficient as possible. I have a big veggie garden and grow heaps of edibles in the ornamental garden out the front. My chooks and turkeys give me all the eggs I could ever eat and possible meat if I can ever bring myself to kill and dress it myself!
I'm really keen to see if this posting thing works so I leave it at that. As I'm only new to this please feel free to add any suggestions you may have and thanks for dropping by!
