OK, I'm trying my hand at knitting and not finding it easy. It took me 45 minutes to cast on 50 stitches. Then I got to the end of the first row and realized I had used that bit of dangly left over wool that hangs off the end instead of the bit from the ball! I had to then unpick it. The first ten rows are rib, one knit one purl. I got half way through the row and realized that I was passing the wool over the needle instead of under and I had been creating an extra stitch! I had to unpick it again.
This photo was taken today after two days of knitting........may take me years. They say knitting is relaxing but I was seriously thinking about stabbing the next person through the door with the needle. I really hope it gets better.

welll, you're one step ahead of me Kirsty!!! I can only do the basic knitting stitch, lol :)
Kirsty I'm laughing loudly right now, but only out of sympathy! Having just completed my first knitting project last week, I feel your pain :-) My Mum could practically knit in her sleep though, so clearly, it does get easier, LOL.
congrats on starting kirsty - thats fantastic!
i feel your pain too! if you click on the "my knitting" tab (might have to go to older posts at the bottom) you'll see my first attempt was a total disaster, no idea what i was doing! it was just meant to be a couple of straight rows but i managed to increase in funny places & put holes all over the place.
it does get easier, you'll be an addict before you know it! your first project always seems to take years but you'll get lots faster dont worry!
persevere - you'll get there! :D
LOL!! Oh, how I can relate!! :)
LOL!
Knitting can be relaxing. For me I knit dishclothes. I follow no pattern and they are odd sizes. i just do them all in plain knit and i can knit in front of the tv without even looking at the needles now. I do find it relaxing but if I tried patterns I am sure it would be stressful!
Don't give up!! I recently started knitting too. After I threw my knitting needles across the floor and almost stabbed the cat not to mention almost poking my eye out- I enjoy it.REALLY!!! Honestly the cat and dog don't even run away anymore when I get out my knitting needles!lol
There are some great tutorials on the net. www.knittinghelp.com has wonderful video tutorials for free. Sometimes it helps to watch other people and then you can try.
Let me know how it turns out!
woohoo, I just went to ebay and checked and saw that you are now the owner of that Masons Ginger Jar :)
p.s. I hope you're feeling better now :)
I am a terribly slow and inefficient knitter.
Good luck ... I sure it gets easier (I think).
