Nearly Christmas

There isn't much happening on Gobbler's Run at the moment. I have two weeks off work over Christmas so I will be using that time to really get stuck into the jobs that need doing. The three baby turkeys went to their new home last week and yesterday the farmer who took them called in to drop off two bags of wheat screenings as payment. The chooks and turkey's are so excited they are feasting! Due to ridiculously low rain fall Paul and Kelly are eating lucerne hay that I am buying in every couple of days ($19 a bale!), they love it but they did ask if they could please spend the Chrissy holidays at my brothers place cause there is heaps of green grass down there. Just have to work out some way of getting them there?
I have given up the knitting! In fact I have bought a knitting machine and I pick it up on Monday. It knits long tubes like giant french knitting so I will make Jamie some leg warmers! I will post pics, I'm sure he will look adorable!
Due to Paul and Kelly raiding my vegie garden I have planted my summer vegies in the front garden this year. I love the way they look all mixed up together!

I planted mint as a green mulch to try and keep some moisture in the ground. I knew that the mint would take over and I'm happy to keep pulling it out but boy it happened quickly!

Speaking of things that happen quickly, my gold fish have multiplied again...sigh. I have tried to explain family planning options to them but they just ignore me!

Why don't you ditch the gold fish and get a frog pond?
It would save on contraceptives!

its a shame you gave up on knitting - it really does get more fun, & theres so many cool things you can make. maybe youll pick it up again later?

I am intrigued to see what you come up with from the knitting machine, cant wait for pics of that!!! :D

Yeah other than leg warmers I'm not sure what I'll be able to create. Maybe a strapless woollen evening gown? woollen pants? lots of scarves lol

I'm sure the frogs would start to breed to then I would have heaps but that might mean less flies? We do hear them at night so I think there must be a few that frequent the pond lol

I love this post! It's so funny.

Your vegies look great in your front garden. I wish I could do the same but we have a gigantic street tree just outside our front gate that shades everything.

Well, we must be doing something wrong because we still have the same 5 we started with 4 years ago. Any suggestions?

Love the pics of the animals and gardens. We're buried in snow here, so it's refreshing!! :)

mama bear, I wonder if you have all boys or all girls? I started out with 9 about three years ago and at last count there was over 40! some as tiny as the nail on your little toe! right up to the original 9 that are just whoppers now!
