I'm so busy...aaaarrrrhhhh

I'm sorry I haven't been updating my blog very often lately, I've just been so busy. Orders for soap are coming in faster than I can make it so I'm stressed and busy and tired and happy and grumpy and did I mention busy? I will try to keep up with my blogging but if you notice it hasn't been updated for so time please think of me up to my arm pits in oil and caustic!

Last night was the local Nhill Show. I had been very nervous about it as I think nearly everyone from the district comes in for a look. My soaps were in a great spot, in a pavilion that also contained all the school kids art work. This meant that all the parents and grandparents came in for a look! I was run off my feet at times. Jamie was great, he came in after work to bring me something to eat and drink and even watched the stall while I ran to the loo! He wouldn't put on the apron though LOL.

I thought I had made more than enough soap but I think I could have sold twice as much. I sold out of the lemongrass, aniseed, chocolate and all the little Chrissy pudding soaps (I had 30!) I have only 2 or 3 bars of everything else so I have to get back into the kitchen and make more. ...aaarrrhhh I need a 'lye' down!

Wow Kirsty, you're certainly flat out! An order for 300 bars is fabulous, though obviously exhausting :-) I hope things settle down shortly to give you some respite, but a HUGE congratulations that things are going so well, so quickly for you :-D

Well done! You're business is going great by the sounds of it! I'm interested - did you know you always wanted to run your own business? Or were you just interested in making soap, and then realised 'Hey, I can sell this stuff and make some money!' I've always been fascinated by people starting up their own business. Was there a big startup cost? Was it scary buying so many supplies, thinking 'I wonder if all this is actually going to sell'?
I would love for you to let me know :) I understand that you're extremely busy atm though, so no rush :) Thanks!

Congrats on your success! I'll second the requests made in lil's comment - I would love to hear how you started. I'm thinking of starting my own little enterprise and any advice is so welcome!

hee hee! Poor Kristy - remember when you were just a wholesome, simple little Goblers Run girl, tending to your chooks, musing in the garden, swinging in the hammock and beating that Turkey off with a stick?

I am really happy for you Kristy! Hang in there and remember to breathe!

Duckie, I might not be so frazzled if I got out of the hammock and got stuck in to it lol, I get distracted way to easily! Is there a secret to working from home with out getting distracted by the garden etc?
Woody, I had to take out insurance to cover public/product liability and there is a clause in the policy that wont cover export to America or Canada..??? Weird huh, I'll send you over some if you promise not to sue me LOL
lil, keep your eyes out cause I'll do a blog entry to cover all the questions but I love making soap so much that I had to start selling it cause I ran out of room to put it all lol
Thank you all for your comments and I will try to post more!
Hope you all have a great day!

Congratulations Kirsty. What great news. I share that love of soap making but the selling side of it was too much pressure for me. Good on you for having a go and creating such a lovely product.
I think you had better be prepared to be flat out from now until Christmas so perhaps you better pack the hammock away so it can't tempt you. :-)
