Cheese Making

I'm so excited! Today I booked in to a 2 day cheese making workshop. The first day, a Saturday, is soft cheeses and then Sunday is hard cheeses. I really am looking forward to this even though it isn't till December! I guess the family will be getting cheese for Christmas this year.

My dream is to be as self~sufficient as possible so being able to make my own cheese is a definite plus! Paul and Kelly the sheep may even be able to produce the milk...we may have to wait and see!

Hi There,
I found you blog while searching for big chicken tractors and I see from your link list that we read similar blogs.(Mine is The Blue Mountains Menagerie)
Anyway, enough of the intros, I love your photos and your title bar is beautiful.
About the sheep, is Paul a ewe or will just Kelly be making the cheese?
I look forward to hearing more of the adventures on Gobbler's Run.

Hi lucy c, I haven't received the sheep yet they are still with their mums so I won't know if they are boys or girls till they get here LOL But I'm going to call them Paul and Kelly anyway!

I don't believe male sheep can produce milk but what do I know. I think what you're doing is great. I bought some yogurt yesterday that had a September expiration date. I wonder what they've added to make it last that long.
We grew up almost self sufficient. I still can some food and think that is the best way if you grow your veggies. I'm in the city these days, though.

Well they are here now and Paul is definitely a boy (minus some bits!) so it will be up to Kelly to produce the milk!
